What is Demagnetization?
Demagnetization is the process of eliminating or reducing the magnetic effects on a material.
Application Areas and Importance
In manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, spot welding, pressing, and transportation, or in machine equipment, it is necessary to remove residual magnetization from product surfaces. Excessive magnetization on the surface can negatively impact product quality in later production stages. For example, it can attract metal dust to the surface, leading to poor coating quality. Additionally, excessive magnetization during welding can prevent proper welding.
Required Values for Demagnetization
If the magnetization value on the material surface exceeds 5 Gauss, demagnetization is required.
Handheld Demagnetizer
The portable handheld demagnetizer reduces excessive magnetization on material surfaces to a level of 0-5 Gauss. Effective for materials up to 20 mm thick, this device is easy to transport and use in various locations. It operates with 220V AC power from the city grid and can be manufactured in custom sizes as needed. The demagnetization process is performed by slowly moving the material over the device.
Working Principle of the Device
The Portable Handheld Demagnetizer operates with city grid power. When the switch is turned on, the device becomes active. Materials requiring demagnetization are placed on the device surface and moved slowly. The items are demagnetized by moving them back and forth on the device. This process can be repeated as needed.
How It Works
The device is protected by a heat sensor but should not be left on continuously. It is recommended to turn it off after use. If the device overheats, it cuts off the circuit and stops operating. Once cooled, it can be restarted.
The device should not be used on steel materials that are thicker than 20 mm, heat-treated, or have formed surfaces. Residual magnetization may remain on such materials. To minimize this, you can repeat the process by flipping the material over and slowing down the operation speed.
